LEGISLATURE CREATES FAMILY DIVISION OF CIRCUIT COURT

Effective January 1, 1999, each circuit court in Michigan will have a family division that will hear cases dealing with nearly every aspect of family law, from divorce, child and spousal support and child custody, to child abuse and neglect, paternity and delinquency. Each division will include judges from both the probate and circuit courts. Judges will serve in that division for the balance of their terms (typically six years).

In Wayne County, the twelve current judges of the Family Division are:

  1. Deborah Ross Adams
  2. Megan Maher Brennan
  3. J.W. Callahan
  4. Charlene Elder
  5. Richard Halloran, Jr.
  6. Amy P. Hathaway
  7. Muriel D. Hughes
  8. Arthur Lombard
  9. Kathleen McCarthy
  10. Maria L. Oxholm
  11. Lita Masini Popke
  12. Richard M. Skutt

In Oakland County, the eight current judges of the Family Division are:

  1. James M. Alexander
  2. Martha D. Anderson
  3. Leo Bowman
  4. Linda S. Hallmark
  5. Cheryl Mathers
  6. Eugene Arthur Moore
  7. Elizabeth Pezzetti
  8. Joan E. Young
